The POWER of the Feminine: how we lost this knowledge and why we must reclaim it.

As I sat down to write there were so many ideas swirling in my mind, but none wanted to coalesce on the page. So this is me, writing to you dear reader, from the stream of my consciousness. Perhaps that means this blog post will be a little less “useful”, a little less purposeful, a little more of whatever decides to pour out of my brain. I hope that’s okay with you. I trust that you enjoy a little whimsy as much as I do.

Will it be whimsical though? I’m not totally sure.

One of the things that I wanted to write on, that I have been mulling over in my mind since last week’s post, is the idea of the feminine as weak. As soft and fragile. That silly portrait of a china doll we’ve been told to emulate.

How did the feminine end up as weak in the social consciousness?

She is nothing of the sort!

The feminine is POWERFUL. Sheer creative force. Tough and resilient.

I’m not just pulling this out of my ass either, or painting a picture of how I feel the feminine is or ought to be.

Biologically, women are these things.

Women live longer, have a stronger immune response, and are more emotionally stable and resilient than men (chew on that toxic masculinity).

Female infants are more likely to be born at term than their male counterparts (rather than pre- or postterm) and far fewer hereditary diseases affect them (ask me about Punnett squares and why this is the case!).

As I spoke about last week, the divine feminine embodies all of these things.

She is strong, yet flexible. For she must be in order to birth new life, to bend and stretch without breaking.

She is tender, yet fierce. For she must nurture, raise, and protect her young.

She is proud, yet collaborative. For she must know her worth and her role to play in her interdependent communities.

She is in each of us. No matter how much of her we may have forgotten her.

It is my belief… more a knowing than a belief really… that we must remake society with this version of the feminine foremost in our minds.

We must honour her strength, flexibility, tenderness, fierceness, pride, and collaborative nature.

We must celebrate her and embrace her so that we may each embrace these characteristics within ourselves.

We must do this not only for those born into female bodies among us, but so that those born into male bodies may also embrace their divine feminine qualities. So that there may be balance in each of us and in society and in the world.

We lost this narrative a long time ago due to a patriarchy that feared the power of the feminine. A system that wanted to squash it and render it impotent so that the only potency was that of the dominant masculine. With it, we lost the balance that is required to live in harmonious interdependence with each other, with our selves, and with the land.

It’s time to remember that which we have forgotten. To reclaim that which is rightfully ours and lives still in our bones and our blood.

Step into the POWER of your divine feminine energy and let her wisdom guide you home to yourself.
